Car calculators

Car calculations from measurements and stated assumptions: fuel consumption, power-to-weight, trip cost, and the relation between speed, distance and time. Power-to-weight accepts PS or kW; the quarter-mile estimate uses mechanical hp. Check each tool’s units and limits: measured values and model coefficients are different inputs.

FAQ

Which calculation to choose

What to prepare

Use the complete route distance, consistent fuel units and current price per unit. Include the return leg if needed.

Common mistake

Litres per 100 km and kilometres per litre are reciprocal measures. Fuel cost is not the full cost of owning a car.

FAQ

Which horsepower is used?

Power-to-weight accepts metric PS or kW; 1 PS = 735.49875 W. The quarter-mile estimate requires mechanical hp. These are different units: check the particular field label and your original power figure.

How is consumption different from a unit converter?

Fuel consumption uses the litres and kilometres entered and offers the directions listed on its page. A separate fuel-economy converter converts L/100 km and US or imperial mpg.

Are driving style and terrain taken into account?

Fuel use and trip cost do not infer driving style automatically; use suitable measurements. Stopping distance has separate friction and grade inputs. Only the particular tool’s inputs and assumptions are included.

Does trip cost include depreciation?

No, only fuel and tolls. Wear, tax and servicing are outside the calculation.
