Tile calculator
Estimate tiles, packs and adhesive for a floor or wall area.
Fill in the fields and the result will appear here automatically.
Estimate nominal tile count, whole packs and adhesive for a rectangular surface or a known area. Tile dimensions are entered in centimetres, while room and pack areas use square metres. An entered reserve increases the purchasing area; it does not generate a cutting layout. The adhesive rate and pack coverage must come from the actual products.
How it works
Formula and logic
The area is length × width or a directly entered area. Purchasing area S = area × (1 + reserve/100). Tiles are rounded up from S/(tile length × tile width/10,000), with tile dimensions in centimetres; packs are separately rounded up from S/pack area. Adhesive is S × the entered kg/m² rate. Reserve therefore also increases the adhesive estimate; this is a purchasing assumption rather than adhesive applied only to the net area. The initial 5 kg/m² is editable and is not a universal product rate. Price is per whole pack in RUB, with no currency conversion. Dimensions and pack area must be positive; reserve, rate and price must be non-negative. Joint width, a cutting layout and individual wall openings are not modeled.
Example
A 4 × 3 m room, 30 × 30 cm tiles and 10% reserve give 13.2 m² and 147 tiles. With 1.44 m² per pack, buy 10 packs; an entered 5 kg/m² adhesive rate gives 66 kg including reserve.
Fields and units
- Mode — By room / By area
- Room length — m
- Room width — m
- Known area — m²
- Tile length — cm
- Tile width — cm
- Pack area — m²
- Reserve — %. Chosen non-negative percentage; no universal rate is prescribed. Blank means 0.
- Entered adhesive rate — kg/m². Product-specific kg/m² rate. Blank uses 5; reserve also increases the adhesive estimate.
- Price per pack — RUB. Price in RUB; no currency exchange. Blank or 0 hides cost.
How to use
- — Enter room area or dimensions.
- — Enter tile size and pack area.
- — Add reserve and review the result.

- Calculation method
- Formula and logic
- Data or methodology source
- Ceresit CM 11 Plus: this product rate depends on tile and trowel; 5 kg/m² is not a universal norm
- Limitation
- The initial 5 kg/m² is editable and is not a universal product rate. Joint width, a cutting layout and individual wall openings are not modeled.
FAQ
How is the number of tiles estimated?
Enter the area or room dimensions and the tile size. The calculator divides the surface with your reserve allowance by the area of one tile.
Why enter a reserve and pack coverage?
Reserve increases the estimated purchasing area for cuts and breakage; pack coverage then converts that area into whole packs. Neither the entered percentage nor box rounding checks a tile-by-tile cutting plan.
Does the estimate replace a laying plan?
No. Patterns, borders, irregular surfaces and site-specific waste can change the number of tiles or packs needed.
Why are tile and pack counts separate?
Tile count uses nominal tile area, while packs use the entered total pack area. Each is rounded up separately. Check the box marking rather than inferring its tile count from the two rounded results.
